    Evaluates to the last element of `x` if all preceding elements are 
    falsey, `nil` if `x` is empty, or otherwise to the first truthy 
    element.

    `x` can be a bytes, indexed. dictionary, fiber, or abstract type 
    with suitable `get` and `next` methods.
